Universal Design Case Study: Left hand Turns
Making a left turn across oncoming traffic is one of the most dangerous things you can do in a vehicle. This is true regardless of your age, but it's especially true for drivers in their 60s, 70s and 80s. We're going to see more older drivers behind the wheel in the coming decades - delivering goods and picking up the grandkids. So what can be done about it?
The answer is almost too simple - make right hand turns instead.
Watch the video on the right to see how a simple change can not only improve safety behind the wheel but also decrease fuel costs.

* The Mythbusters do a little experiment to see whether fuel consumption, distance and time are affected by a right-hand-only delivery route. When you factor safety into the equation, there's no question. Making right hand turns is good for people, the planet and profits.
